Dan Rutz, Global Public Health Educator and Advocate
Dan Rutz is a public health consultant and adjunct faculty member at Emory University, where he teaches health communications. Previously, he served as an Associate Director of Communication Science for the National Center for Infectious Diseases and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). At the CDC, he improved public health communications around emergency and other acute events, and he served as a CNN on-air medical correspondent. Mr. Rutz has expertise in coordinating communication responses to manage influenza vaccine distribution issues, West Nile virus, SARS, and other virus outbreaks. Working with the U.S. Government and the World Health Organization, Mr. Rutz also established an international standard for pandemic communication.
