100 Years of Empowering Women Worldwide
2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing and protecting women's constitutional right to vote in the United States. Before the passage of the 19th Amendment, American women struggled for decades to achieve the right to free and equal political participation. 100 years after the passage of the 19th Amendment, millions of women around the world have continued America’s suffragette fight to promote democracy and advocate for their right to political participation. On Wednesday, August 26th, the U.S. Department of State will hold a virtual program on “100 Years of Empowering Women Worldwide.” The hour-long program will discuss what women around the world are doing to make their voices heard.
