Public Communication and Digital Resilience During a Pandemic

The U.S. Embassy in Greece is partnering with the DCN Southeast Europe Hub to hold a virtual discussion on public health communication and digital resilience during a global pandemic. Dan Rutz, former Associate Director of Communication Science at CDC and former CNN senior medical correspondent, will discuss communication, international cooperation, and disinformation in the midst of a global health crisis with communications professionals, students, and thought leaders. This webinar will include an interactive discussion between the U.S. expert and participants to  explore best practices in crisis management communications and responsible reporting.

Speaker Bio:

Dan Rutz Speaker Dan Rutz is a public health consultant and adjunct faculty member at Emory University where he teaches health communications.  He served as an associate director of communication science for the National Center for Infectious Diseases and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Rutz has expertise in coordinating communication responses to manage influenza vaccine distribution issues, West Nile virus, SARS, and other virus outbreaks.  At the CDC, he improved public health communications around emergency and other acute events, and he served as a CNN on-air medical correspondent. Working with the U.S. Government and the World Health Organization, Dan also established an international standard for pandemic communication
