Speaker Bio

Dr. Barry Lee is an assistant professor of history at Morehouse College. He teaches the history of the civil rights movement in the United States, world history, and student activism. He has discussed the role of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the U.S. civil rights movement in various panels. Professor Lee also spoke to secondary school teachers at the Carter Presidential Library in Atlanta, explaining how to teach the events of the U.S. civil rights movement using oral history resources. He previously taught African-American history at Georgia State University and Clark Atlanta University
